Antigua

The Antigua Valley in Guatemala has always been the most famous coffee-producing region in Guatemala. The micro-climate of the Antigua Valley provides excellent conditions for growing coffee, and its uniqueness is known all over the world. The road to fame for this region began with the exceptional coffee that was discovered by certain Japanese coffee traders decades ago. The combination of rich volcanic soil, low humidity, abundant sunshine and strong contrast between day and night temperature has created the personality of Antigua coffee. The valley is made up of three volcanoes: Agua, Acatenango and Fuego. Every once in a while Fuego Volcano adds fresh, rich ash to the environment. These volcanic ash are rich in minerals, but also provide soil growth conditions, help retain moisture to resist Antigua's dry climate. Like all coffee grown in Guatemala, Antigua coffee is grown under shade trees that not only protect the coffee from the cold December-January nights, but also create an ecological corridor To the wildlife in this subtropical zone.

Microclimate Information

Climate: The climate of this region is mild with an average annual temperature of 22°C. The Antigua Valley is protected from the northern winds by mountains and volcanoes.

Altitude: Located at an altitude of 1500 meters, it produces extremely hard bean (SHB) quality coffee.

Weather: The rainy season lasts six months from May to October and the dry season from November to April. The dry season November-January has a cool temperature of around 14°C, while February-April is warm with an average of 24°C. Such a unique climate has created a special coffee producing area. The final pulp is then removed through a fermentation process and washed with clean water. The coffee is 75% sun-dried.
